Introduction Spiel

Hello and welcome to my travel blog!

It seems appropriate to start this blog with a preamble about why I'm even writing this to begin with.

Well, it all started back in '87... Well, in a manner of speaking. I'm born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. I have since moved to Canada and you know what - EVERYWHERE is so much closer to Canada! So while I'm here, my goal has been to see as much of the world as possible. To that end, I designed some rather intensively researched itineraries to maximise my time spent abroad. I will also spontaneously jump in the car and drive to wherever to explore the local surroundings.

I have been slowly gaining some ground in the amateur photography field at the same time, and well, I'm trying. With practice, hopefully it'll be an uphill learning slope.

So, I found myself admiring some amazing food blogs the other day, which inspired me to try some drool-som recipes. I was talking to my boyfriend about this, about how fun and challenging it could be to start a similar blog, but I'm not too confident in the recipe-creation field nor the food photography field. He said, "Well, remember that amazing itinerary you put together for Switzerland? I bet people would love to get some tips about how we did so much in 9 short days". So here I am, giving him a chance to be right about this.

Why might you be interested in reading my insight and experience when you're planning your own travels? Well, I guess that depends. Do you love trip planning? Well so do I, let's share tips! Do you hate trip planning? No problem - feel free to copy one of mine ;)

At this point I will add that currently I am not monetising this blog in any way. I currently have no advertisements, no affiliate links, or any other ways to make money from this blog. All links are provided for your further information and convenience only. If this situation changes, I will provide an update regarding this. For the most part, I link some information to external sites to make it easier to find the relevant information about the hotels, attractions, or restaurants that I am referring to, so the names of these businesses don't have to appear in the blog text itself every time I mention them. This blog isn't intended for advertising businesses, but I will make some recommendations based on my experiences (isn't that the whole point?), just like I would to my friends and family.

A bit about me and my travel style:
- I'm mid-20's, reasonably active and average fitness level. So if I say I found a hike easy, then most people would be fine with it.
- I'm painstakingly organised when it comes to planning my trips. Time is precious and with usually only 7-9 days to explore at a time, I feel like every moment counts. I research to prioritise what I want to see, then fit as much in as I can.
- I'm a foodie. I love to cook, love to try local dishes, and enjoy a well accomplished restaurant. For the same reasons, I can be a bit critical when it comes to food, and any review of a restaurant is almost entirely based on the food, more so than service, atmosphere etc.
- I do try to keep within a budget when travelling. That being said, my philosophy is that time is my most precious commodity. If a little extra money will same me from wasting time with transit or unpleasantries, I will happily pay the extra.
- I love spotting the native wildlife, and try my best to do so when on the road.
- I try to be diverse. I will stay at hotels, hostels, airbnbs and more. I will eat food from street carts, hidden local gems, tourist traps, and high class restaurants. I will be lazy and spend a day lounging around, or spend dawn to dusk on the move.

The first additions to this blog are going to be of past adventures. I'll probably start with the more recent journeys, perhaps detail a few earlier travel experiences (it'll be funny to see the photo quality difference as I progress backwards instead of forwards), and then discuss my current trips as they come to pass.

Where are all these photo's I've posted from? Stay tuned...
